A great way to streamline your content and offer readers an easy way to see your most recent posts in WordPress is to use our Category Page. Most of our Bloom themes come with a Category Page template like this example category page from our Darling theme:
To use this template, you need to first create a page and title it whatever you’d like your category page to be called. Then, under Page Attributes, select the index page template. Click update.
Next, you will need to add content to this page. In your WordPress dashboard, browse over to Appearance > Widgets. Find the Index Page widget area. This is how you will add the content to your category page.
You will need to add multiple Genesis Featured Posts widgets to this area. To display two categories add two Genesis Featured Posts widgets. If you want to showcase three or more, just drag over as many as you would like.
Below is a sample configuration.
A few settings to note if you’d like your theme to match the demo:
- Make sure your image alignment is set to LEFT
- If your images aren’t displaying correctly, make sure they are tall enough (i.e. 1024px tall) if you select the portrait size. If they are, run the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin. Once it is downloaded and activated, go to Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails. When this plugin is running, don’t close the page or the process won’t complete.
- Make sure the box to show the post title is checked
- Select no content
